Sara Chapman of the Media Burn Independent Video Archive presents a small sampling of their wide array of videos highlighting Black life in Chicago. These videos will feature a variety of ordinary and extraordinary Chicagoans, such as Harold Washington, Carol Moseley Braun, Timuel Black, Jesse Jackson, Frankie Knuckles, Herb Kent, Richard Hunt, Sweetwater Clifton, the House-o-Matics, Aaron Freeman, Vernon Jarrett, the Barrett Sisters, Oscar Brown, Jr, Blind John Davis, Big Bill Broonzy, and Barack Obama. Footage of the Bud Billiken parade, blues concerts, and neighborhood festivals in South Shore and Englewood, and more round out the program. (60 min.)
